Terms of Service

The short version. Blotto is a research tool. A subscription is $119 for one lab for 12 months, for up to 10 people. It doesn't renew automatically, and purchases are final, so the 14-day free trial is there so you can decide first. Your images and results are yours.
1. Who we are
Blotto is provided by Blotto, LLC ("Blotto", "we", "us"). These terms apply to the Blotto web application at app.blotto.app and to the website at blotto.app. By creating an account or using Blotto, you agree to them.
2. Research use only
Blotto quantifies immunoblot (Western blot) images for research. It is not a medical device and must not be used for diagnosis, patient care, or clinical or regulatory decisions. Blotto shows you the regions and pixels it measured so you can check its work; you are responsible for reviewing results before relying on or publishing them.
3. Labs, owners and members
- The person who creates a lab is its owner. The owner can add members by email, make members admins (who can also add and remove members), and buy or renew the subscription.
- A lab has up to 10 people, including the owner. Each person signs in with their own email address. Sign-in links and codes are personal, so please don't share them.
- The owner is responsible for who has access to their lab, and for removing people who should no longer have it.
4. Free trial, subscription and renewal
- A new lab gets a 14-day free trial with full access. No payment details are needed.
- A subscription costs $119 (plus applicable taxes) and gives one lab full access for 12 months. It is paid once for the year and does not renew automatically. We'll email the owner before it ends.
- If you buy during your trial, or renew before your subscription ends, the 12 months start from the end of your current trial or subscription, so no time is lost.
- Purchases are final and non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We may change the price for future purchases; a change never affects a subscription you've already bought.
5. Acceptable use
Please don't: share access with people outside your lab; resell or sublicense Blotto; attempt to copy, reverse-engineer or overload the analysis service; or use Blotto for anything unlawful. We may suspend access that breaks these terms.
6. Your data
You keep all rights to your images and your results. Blotto processes your files in your browser; only the region you select is sent to our server for analysis, and it isn't stored. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and why.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Blotto available and accurate, but it is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may improve or change features over time.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blotto, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost data, results or research time. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using Blotto at any time. To delete your account and lab, email us. If a subscription ends and isn't renewed, access for the lab stops until the lab subscribes again.
10. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we'll email lab owners before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when these terms last changed.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA.
